Video Editing Reflection

A couple of classes ago, we began learning how to utilize the online software, Adobe Premiere Pro, to create a short film clip. This was important as it allowed us to gain a general understanding of what the software is capable of and how to use the features it provides to the fullest extent possible.

I was able to become more cognizant of the program’s abilities after watching a couple of video tutorials. These video tutorials were able to explain to me where certain controls and features were, as well as teach me how to prepare and import media, organize media, create new sequences, add soundbites and b-roll to timelines, make edits on a timeline, adjust audios, add voiceovers, lower thirds, and color correction.

After finishing the video tutorials, I was able to apply my general knowledge of editing software as well as the information that I learned from the videos to start creating my film clip. For me, it was quite easy to utilize the abilities of Adobe Premiere Pro as compared to some of my classmates who struggled with learning and using this new software.

For me, without the videos just based on my knowledge of editing programs, I could have learned the features of Adobe Premiere Pro and produced the same quality product without the use of the video tutorials, which made this experience significantly easy for me.

When I was creating my film clip, I did not encounter any difficulties while trying to use the software, as it was a rather smooth-sailing process. The only challenge I faced was deciding what clips to use and when, as I made multiple changes to the order of clips and where to use certain things and audios.

Throughout the entire ordeal of trying to put this film clip together, I was able to assimilate the features of Adobe Premiere Pro, the importance of where and how you use certain video/ audio clips, and how to fully utilize the program to the best of its abilities.

I'm going to use what I have learned to help with school assignments and create video projects for work.

I think this may help me with my portfolio project by allowing me to better explain how I am able to create certain film projects and let me produce the best quality film projects for the portfolio.
